One of the most common questions I get asked at classes is “How do I know how much of an oil to use?” My first response is to explain the power of one drop of oil. One drop of peppermint is equivalent to 28 cups of peppermint tea!! The rule of thumb is to use smaller doses with greater frequency.
But how about a chart that spells out just what is appropriate for a dose? This chart was shared with us at the doTERRA Convention a couple of years ago, and I found it very helpful. To understand the difference between “internal” and “oral,” look at it this way. You can take an oil internally by placing it in an empty Veggie Cap or using one of our ready-to-use softgels. But oral will involve the tongue. You might place a drop directly under the tongue or place a couple of drops in a shot glass of water.
